Helping Teenagers Develop Practical Strategies to Manage ADHD

This program supports skill development in areas such as:

  • Creating and using task lists and schedules

  • Managing time and prioritising tasks

  • Improving attention and reducing distraction

  • Strengthening problem-solving strategies

  • Building awareness of thoughts and behaviour patterns

  • Increasing confidence in managing day-to-day responsibilities

The ISN Clinic offers evidence based group therapy programs for free

The ADHD Skills for Teens Group at ISN Clinic is based on the CBT framework outlined in Overcoming ADHD in Adolescence by Sprich and Safren. This evidence-based group program provides adolescents with structured tools to support focus, organisation and adaptive thinking.

The group runs over six 60-minute sessions and is facilitated by trained clinicians using a structured manualised approach. Each week introduces a different topic through interactive discussion and guided exercises:

  1. Introduction to group structure, confidentiality and ADHD psychoeducation

  2. Organisation strategies including task lists and scheduling

  3. Managing multiple tasks and setting priorities

  4. Developing problem-solving skills for everyday challenges

  5. Improving focus and managing distractions

  6. Review of strategies and program wrap-up

The group is designed to offer supportive learning for adolescents who are seeking structured ways to manage attention and executive functioning challenges.
