Exercise FOR BETTER HEALTH
EXERCISE FOR BETTER HEALTH
Physical activity is defined as any voluntary movement produced from the body’s skeletal muscles. Physical activity can include walking to work, participating in sporting competitions, going for a bike ride or even gardening. The feeling of breathlessness does not need to be the only result from exercise. Exercise can be both moderate intensity and vigorous intensity. Moderate intensity activity refers to increasing your heart rate; however, your body is not working at its full capacity. For example, going for a walk and still being able to hold a full conversation without needing to stop. On the other hand, vigorous intensity physical activity refers to an increase in heart rate, increased breathing, and increased sweating. This is because your body needs to work harder for the oxygen to reach the muscles to produce more energy at a faster rate.
How can exercise improve one’s health status?

Participating in physical activity has many benefits in improving overall health status. These benefits include:
-
Increases weight loss
-
Lowers blood pressure
-
Regulates blood sugar levels
-
Increases metabolism
-
Increases energy and mood
-
Reduces risk of falls
-
Reduces inflammation and pain
-
Reduce the risk of developing a chronic illness
